Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American singer-dancer and actress. Her career began with Broadway career performing in musicals such as Wicked, Legally Blonde, as well as Hair. In her performance as Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she received the Tony Award. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford is a veteran of her time working with some of the most acclaimed directors and actors across stage film and television and she is continuing her award-winning collaboration with a variety of upcoming projects. Ashford's next project will be an exclusive Hulu series titled Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show will premiere on the 22nd of November and Ashford stars opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford's current project is Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust, starring alongside Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film will be available on Disney's DTC platforms and will be available as a Hulu Original. Ashford's Broadway comeback will be in the month of March 2023, when he plays alongside Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will lead the production. Ashford has most recently played Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment that is based upon the crisis in America that picked across the country. Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters in the country's first impeachment hearings in over a century. Her two seasons on CBS comedy B Positive was her first significant character. It was created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not unfamiliar with Broadway won both Tony Drama Desk Awards as in addition to Outer Critics Circle Awards in her character of Essie. The actress has also performed in Broadway on Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde as well as the original role as Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for the Tony Award. Ashford is an Denver native who now divides her time between Los Angeles.
